here's a question for the die hard sg fans.
I was interested to know if All Around Me was released as a single anywhere in the world.
This question sprang to mind when i was hearing back all my radio interviews when one of the announcers said '...and here's savage garden's NEW SINGLE "All Around Me."'
So i'm curious to know if it was only released to radio or is there a single out there somewhere.
Any thoughts?

1998 All Around Me
CD 1998 AUS Roadshow Music SAVG-1 [promo]
4:16 All Around Me
2:46 I Want You (Live Acoustic Version)
3:26 To The Moon And Back (Live Acoustic Version)
Tracks 2 & 3, bass by Lee Novak
Recorded in L.A. 1997
[Editor's note: This CD was given to contest winners by Austereo
Network, an Australian radio station. It was also given at Savage
Garden's second concert in Brisbane. It is not available
commercially and is very rare. There are approximately 3000 copies in
existance.
The front cover of this CD does not contain the title "All Around Me",
but only has "The Future Of Earthly Delites", the name given to the
concert being promoted at that time. This title was also used for the
bonus remix CD that was included with the Australian re-issue of Savage
Garden's first album. This single is generally titled "All Around Me",
as that is the first track on the single.]

I've owned this single - the version of I Want You on it was not released on any other single (but it was on some Star radio network compilations)

The single was also given out at the 1998 Melbourne concerts as that's where I got my copy. I also, rang up my melb radio station and they sent me 4 copies whom I gave to friends of mine for free (of course). Just thought I'd let you know that the brissy shows weren't the only time they were given out. :)

I know that it was slated for retail release, and given away Promotionally at Melbourne, and then cancelled. I'm unsure as to why it was cancelled, but the fact that 'All Around Me' wasn't an Album track in the U.S. and many other countries may have been a factor. I have this CD.

Of course, a lot of the information Phill gave came straight from J. Kevin Wells' Discography. Of course, a lot of the Discography information has been submitted by Phill. :)

I don't think there was ever a retail release of All Around Me planned ... only a radio release to co-incide with the FOED tour. The promo CD was given out as a souvenir of the tour.

I think they felt it was a little too "over-the-top" to be a successful radio single.
BTW, Toby, you've got some slightly erroneous info on the Contest page - the IWY single contains the Funky Radio Mix (not the plain Funky Mix) which was unique to that release - it's not purely an edit, either, it has some parts the other Xenomania mixes didn't have.

It's on a lot of their CDS. I think it is on the TMD Ultra Rare Tracks one. That's where I heard it.
